Sci-fi writer Harlan Ellison has dropped his lawsuit against Andrew Niccol's IN TIME, writes The Hollywood Reporter. Ellison, who is known for suing over stolen copyright claims, alleged that the New Regency film ripped off his story REPENT, HARLEQUIN! SAID THE TICKTOCKMAN. While Ellison and his lawyers did not comment on the reason they are backing away from the lawsuit, the failure of IN TIME might have been a factor. In the suit, Ellison claimed that the film would hurt his chances of getting an adaptation of TICKTOCKMAN off the ground. Being associated with a bomb might be worse.
