‘Hey Duggee’ Premieres Today on Nick Jr.

New 2D-animated preschool series produced by Studio AKA for BBC Worldwide features Duggee, a loveable dog and leader of The Squirrel Club.

NEW YORKBBC Worldwide announced the premiere of Hey Duggee, a brand-new animated series for preschoolers, Monday, July 11 with two back-to-back episodes on the Nick Jr. channel. Hey Duggee is an animated series about Duggee, a loveable dog and leader of The Squirrel Club, a place where kids can take part in activities, learn new skills and earn badges along the way. Hey Duggee (17 half-hour episodes) helps teach kids about responsibility, teamwork and how to make good choices. Produced by Studio AKA for BBC Worldwide, Hey Duggee will air weekdays at 2 p.m. (all times ET/PT) on the Nick Jr. channel.

Each episode of Hey Duggee begins with Duggee welcoming the Squirrels, a group of curious little animals who are dropped off at an activity club by their parents. The Squirrels include Tag, a small sweet-natured rhino; Betty, a happy, intelligent octopus; Roly, a hyperactive, wildly enthusiastic hippo; Happy, a jovial crocodile; and Norrie, a thoughtful and clever mouse.

In the series premiere, “The Drawing Badge / The Cake Badge / The Hair Badge,” Duggee and the Squirrels stay indoors to draw when it’s raining outside. Happy eats a cake he finds in the field that belongs to the rabbits and Duggee asks the children for help when he has a bad hair day. This episode will be immediately followed by, “The Rescue Badge / The Super Squirrel Badge / The Teddy Bear Badge,” finds Enid the Cat stuck in a tree while trying to catch a mouse, the Squirrels deciding they want to be superheroes, and Duggee and the Squirrels taking their teddy bears out for a picnic.
