Imagineer Systems demonstrates the newest version of mocha Pro, with improved international character support and significant features to help artists work more efficiently, at SIGGRAPH 2013.
Guildford, UK -- Imagineer Systems announced it will showcase its newest versions of mocha Pro in its booth #744 at SIGGRAPH 2013 in Anaheim.
During the show, Imagineer will be demonstrating mocha Pro v3.2, a new point release that provides much improved international character support and significant features to help artists work more efficiently, including:
- Global character &keyboard support: Unicode-enabled, supporting project, footage, layernames and file paths in any language
- Fixes in licensingdeactivation issues related to OS X Mountain Lion
- Fixes in tracking exportissues with interlaced projects for AE and FCP
- Fixes in stabilized andinverted tracking export
- 3D Camera exporter nowexports nulls with names and accuracy identifiers to both After Effectsand FBX for Nuke, C4D
- Updated mocha 3D track import plug-in forAfter Effects (v1.1)
- Many more improvementsin all areas of the software
Additionally throughout the show, Imagineer Systems will also host guest artists from the visual effects industry who will be showing example of their work. Guests artists include:
- Anthony Garcia- Visual Effects Artist, Legend 3D
- Anthony Dunifer- Visual Effects Artist, Legend 3D
- Matt Kemper- Visual Effects Artist, Legend 3D
The artists from Legend 3D will be demonstrating how they used mocha Pro for challenging shots in the recently released, Man of Steel.
Imagineer Systems will also host VFX industry veteran and Telly Award winning master trainer, Steve Wright, who will demonstrate the mocha Pro and NUKE workflow. Steve will present in the Imagineer booth each day of the conference at 2:00 p.m.
In February 2013, Imagineer Systems was honored by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences with a Scientific and Technical Award for mocha and its Planar Tracking technology. Imagineer Systems’ Philip McLauchlan, Allan Jaenicke, John-Paul Smith and Ross Shain were selected as a winner for mocha and its underlying Planar Tracking technology. The Company was recognized for their proven record of contributing significant value to the post-production process of making motion pictures.
Over the years, Imagineer’s mocha software has gained acclaimed notoriety within Hollywood’s visual effects community for its ability to “motion track” problematic footage such as out of focus and marker-less areas helping enable a technique called ‘digital makeup’ or ‘seamless effects.’ Visual effects artists use planar tracking to magically transform actors and locations without requiring timely makeup sessions and expensive sets, allowing directors to make important creative decisions long after the performance has been captured. Capturing accurate movement is essential and mocha has been involved in some famous digital makeup examples such as the snake-like noseless Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter films, replacing Mystique’s eyes in X-Men and helping Natalie Portman undergo an amazing transformation in Black Swan.
