MCU franchise star Paul Bettany also returns in the upcoming ‘WandaVision’ spinoff, set to begin production in 2025.
The evil robot returns! James Spader is set to reprise his role as the villainous Ultron, first introduced in the eponymous Avengers: Age of Ultron, in the upcoming Vision series. While the character was previously created through performance capture, it is unclear whether this extremely expensive method will be used again for the small screen.
Terry Matalas (Star Trek: Picard) serves as showrunner and executive producer on the untitled WandaVision spinoff, which will center on the Avengers character Vision. Franchise star Paul Bettany will return to reprise the role.
The project was previously announced as a series in development with WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer, which would follow the S.W.O.R.D. agency-created White Vision as he attempts to regain his memory and humanity.
It was also teased that Vision’s “wife” Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, may appear despite her supposed demise in Doctor Strange 2, although this may now occur in the other spinoff, Agatha All Along.
The Vision series begins production in 2025. Agatha All Along streams now on Disney+.
