Variety reports that Jon Favreau will head the development of THE MAGIC KINGDOM. The project will be a family adventure set at Disneyland where the iconic characters come to life.
Favreau will devise a new story with a writer. Disney has decided not to go with Ronald Moore's version of the idea, which be wrote based on his own pitch. It will be curious to see if Hyperion's book series KINGDOM KEEPERS works into the final idea. Ridley Pearson's YA books follow teens who fight against Maleficent at Disney World.
Strike Entertainment's Marc Abraham and Eric Newman are the producers.
