‘The Greatest Showman’ filmmaker Michael Gracey is in talks to helm the upcoming project from a script by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson; casting has not been announced.

A Tangled live-action remake is officially in development at Disney, with Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman) in talks to helm the project, according to Variety. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge, Thor: Love and Thunder) will pen the script. Casting has not been announced.

The original 2010 3DCG musical retells the classic Brothers Grimm tale about a young woman with freakishly long hair who is stuck in a tower. Disney’s version sees Rapunzel rescued by a runaway thief, who leads her on a journey to discover the world and her true self.

Tangled earned $592 million at the global box office as well as an Oscar nom for the original song “When Will My Life Begin.” Other franchise installments include the 2012 short film Tangled Ever After, the 2027 TV movie Tangled: Before Ever After, and the 2017 animated series Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure.
