LOS ANGELES -- MarVista Entertainment, the Latin American distributor for the globally successful game and animation property Yo-Kai Watch, has extended its broadcast licensing agreement with Disney XD Latin America, delivering a second season of the phenomenally popular animated children’s television series and the first English-language film, Yo-Kai Watch: The Movie. Additionally, MarVista’s Yo-Kai Watch pan-Latin American licensing agent, Tycoon Enterprises, has secured new deals for the brand’s consumer products’ program.
“MarVista was thrilled with the initial response from audiences when Yo-Kai Watch premiered across all five of Disney XD Latin American feeds last June, building an incredible fan base for this multiplatform property throughout the region,” explained Fernando Szew, CEO, MarVista Entertainment. “Our licensing agent, Tycoon Enterprises, has also been extremely successful in building the licensing, merchandising and retail program across the territory and continues to expand in 2017 with new deals and product rollouts.”

The first English-language film based on brand creator LEVEL-5 abby Inc.’s global animation and game phenomenon, Yo-Kai Watch: The Movie premiered in the U.S. this past November in primetime on Disney XD and on Netflix, following a limited theatrical run at some 300 theaters nationwide in October. Featuring the voice talent from the hit TV series, Yo-Kai Watch: The Movie follows Nate Adams and his Yo-kai friends, Whisper and Jibanyan, as they’re transported to the past to help Nate’s grandfather, Nathaniel, battle evil Yo-kai and invent the Yo-kai Watch. Yo-Kai Watch: The Movie also introduces a new Yo-kai -- Hovernyan, a floating blue cat who is Nathaniel’s heroic companion.
Yo-Kai Watch products from 23 new licensees across the region (including Mexico: Union Kids, Movis, Grupo Ruz, Scribe, Granmark, Regalos Siglo XXI, Importadora Grezon, IMC Toys, Topps Latin America: Induropa, Titanio, Windsor, Ansaldo, Party Express, Laboratorios Durandin, Scribe, Eficiencia Laboral, Textiles Arval, Papelera Nacional, STOR, IMC Toys, Topps) from categories, outerwear, pajamas, underwear, swimwear, back-to-school, stationary, notebooks, confectionary, home, toys and games, will launch across Latin America in early 2017. More than 500 SKUs will be available in all tiers at leading stores throughout the region, including Walmart Mexico and Central America, Chedraui, Soriana, Ripley, Fallabela and Pepe Ganga to name a few. The consumer products program spearheaded by Tycoon Enterprises will continue growing throughout 2017 with additional complementary categories.
