Max Lang Joins UK’s Studio AKA

London-based Studio AKA has signed Oscar-nominated Max Lang to the company’s directorial roster.

Lang is a graduate of Germany’s prestigious Filmakademie Baden-Wuttemmberg, and has since established himself as a much respected and sought-after animation director and story artist. 

In 2009, Max co-directed with Jakob Schuh the acclaimed BAFTA and Oscar-nominated half-hour adaptation of Julia Donaldson's The Gruffalo, created for the BBC by Magic Light Pictures and Studio Soi.

Lang was also Assistant Director on the first season of the multiple award-winning international hit series The Amazing World of Gumball for Cartoon Network, and more recently, Lang co-directed with Jan Lachauer on the BBC1 commissioned adaptation of Julia Donaldson's Room on the Broom, also from Magic Light Pictures. 

Now settled in the UK, Max is represented by Studio AKA.
