London-based content distribution company licenses three of its top children’s shows – ‘Kikoriki,’ ‘Rosa & Dara’ and ‘Pin-Code’ -- to broadcasters in Sweden, Norway and Israel.
LONDON -- Media I.M., the London-based content distribution company that specializes in premium animation and family entertainment, has announced the licensing of three of its top children’s shows to broadcasters in Sweden, Norway and Israel.
Swedish broadcaster SVT has acquired Bionaut’s Rosa and Dara and Their Great Holiday Adventures TV special for its children’s channel SVT Barnkanalen, it will air in the third quarter of the year. In a second deal, the animated adventure-fantasy, which helps children to discover, understand and learn about the world in an entertaining and playful way, has been licensed by Norwegian public broadcaster NRK for its NRK Super kids’ channel. The Nordic sales follow on last year’s multi-territory deal for Rosa and Dara with Middle Eastern broadcasting giant MBC3.
Two of Media I.M.’s best-selling animation series, Kikoriki New Adventures and Pin-Code, are headed for Israel on the back of deals with, respectively, Talit Communications and A+ Kids TV.
Talit Communications has licensed Kikoriki New Adventures for its children’s channels, which include Junior, BabyTV and Safari Kids. Kikoriki, Petersburg Animation Studio’s flagship brand about the spherical inhabitants of the world of Kikoriki, launched in 2003 and has gone on to become one of the most successful projects in the history of Russian animation. It is also proving to be popular on the international market, with deals closed in the last year with Turkey’s Dusyeri Animation Studios for Planeta Cocuk, MBC, Discovery Italia, Telecom Italia, Bulgarian public broadcaster BNT, Spain’s TV Galicia and Estonia’s ETV.
The animated science adventure and discovery series Pin-Code, which follows the adventures of a penguin inventor called Pin and features all key characters introduced in Kikoriki, is also headed for Israel via a 3 ½ year deal with VOD educational service A+ Kids TV. Aimed at 4-8 year olds, A+ Kids TV launched on the Hot and Yes platforms in 2016 and plans to launch as a linear channel by the end of the year.
Irina Nazarenko, co-founder of Media I.M., commented, “The Nordic territories and Israel are formidable competitive markets for children’s product, which makes these latest deals for Rosa and Dara, Kikoriki and Pin-Code particularly gratifying. This surge of interest in our catalogue is a great start to 2016 and a reflection of the global market’s on-going appetite for kids’ content which focuses on learning through entertainment and encourages kids to discover the world around them.”
