Inspired by Apple’s patent filing for a holographic display, animator Mike Ko came up with a neat concept that imagines what it might look like.
Ko, who has created animations for Google, Nike, Toyota and NASCAR, made a short film called Diorama that envisions how users can interact with 3D projected images.
The video, created using Autodesk Maya, Adobe After Effects and The Pixel Farm’s Pftrack, with rendering completed in V-ray, features a tiny car traveling along a street as buildings pop up on one side, with the images appearing as three-dimensional figures floating above the screen.
