Eschewing the traditional TV development process, much of the content for Night Sweats was incubated in the digital space before making the jump to TV. After issuing a call for submissions in 2014, Night Sweats received over 750 pitches, which resulted in 30 greenlit pilots and 15 shows receiving multiple episode orders. The program uses YouTube to test the relative popularity of pilot shorts by measuring the views and user feedback to determine which series to expand into larger orders and longer formats.
