Morgan Creek Puts Up Coin for The Thing

With THE THING remake hitting theaters on Oct. 14, it seems a little late to be getting a co-financing partner, but that's what Universal has done. Variety reports that Morgan Creek Prods. will pony up some funds for the horror redux and help Universal with the international release. Universal will release the film in some global markets in Morgan Creek's name, while Morgan Creek will be working with other distribution partners in other markets. No details on the markets were announced. Universal releases Morgan Creek's productions in the U.S.

Matthijs van Heijningen directed the new THING, which will serves as a prequel to John Carpenter's 1982 film.
