Based on Eiichiro Oda’s popular manga, the live-action series adaptation streams sometime in 2023.
Netflix has just dropped the first-look poster for the long-awaited live-action series One Piece, based on the hugely popular manga created by Eiichiro Oda. Production was originally announced in January 2020 but waylaid due to the COVID-19 shutdowns. But alas, the streamer says it’s on the horizon and “sets sail” in 2023.
The show stars Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy; Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro; Emily Rudd as Nami; Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp; and Taz Skylar as Sanji. Previously announced cast includes McKinley Belcher III; Morgan Davies; Aidan Scott; Vincent Regan; Jeff Ward; Craig Fairbrass; Langley Kirkwood; Celeste Loots; Alexander Maniatis; Ilia Isorelýs Paulino; Chioma Umeala; and Steven Ward.
Shueisha, Tomorrow Studios, and Netflix serve as production partners. Matt Owens and Steve Maeda serves as writers, executive producers, and showrunners. Oda, Marty Adelstein, and Becky Clements also executive produce. No word yet on the who's handling the VFX.
One Piece, the anime series, is now streaming on Netflix.
