Jason Donati has been named as department chair of Media Arts & Animation at The New England Institute of Art (NEiA).
Donati brings a strong industry background to this new Bachelor of Science degree program. He comes to NEiA from Kaon Inc in Maynard, Massachusetts, where he was creative director/director of production. At Kaon he produced geometrically precise 3D models, animation and corresponding Java-based scripting in the creation of photorealistic product tours for Fortune 500 consumer electronics companies. Prior to that Donati was director of animation for Animation Technologies in Boston, doing case work for medical and legal teams using Maya, 3ds max, Photoshop and After Effects.
He has taught character animation and developed the animation program at Bostons Katherine Gibbs. He earned his M.F.A. in Animation from the Rochester Institute of Technology and holds a B.F.A. in Animation from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
