‘New Gods: Yang Jian’ Arrives on Digital April 11 and Blu-Ray + DVD April 25

The second theatrical installment in Light Chaser Animation's Chinese mythology-inspired ‘New Gods’ animated fantasy series follows Yang Jian as he fights to stop his nephew from finding a powerful, dangerous artifact that can release catastrophic destruction.

The animated action fantasy, New Gods: Yang Jian will make its home entertainment debut on digital platforms this coming April 11 and April 25 on Blu-Ray + DVD. The home release includes both the original Mandarin language version as well as in an all-new English language dub. The initial run of the Blu-Ray + DVD release will also include an 11 x 18 limited edition poster.

13 years after Yang Jian imprisoned his sister, the once-powerful hero, also known as Erlang Shen, now scrapes by as a poor bounty hunter. When a mysterious woman hires him, Yang Jian finds himself chasing down a familiar figure. He must stop Chenxiang, his long-lost nephew, who searches for a powerful, but dangerous artifact. As Yang Jian confronts his past, he must face treacherous vigilantes seeking to bring catastrophic destruction.

Directed by Zhao Ji, New Gods: Yang Jian is the second installment from Chinese studio Light Chaser Animation’s New Gods series of animated action-fantasy epics inspired by Chinese mythological figures; it follows the 2021 feature New Gods: Nezha Reborn. In the New Gods universe, Chinese mythology is reimagined in a wildly original, steampunk-inspired world.

The film debuted in 2022, earning $19.8 million in its opening weekend at the mainland China box office, ending its domestic box office run with over $77 million.
