Immersion Corporation, manufacturer of 3D and motion capture hardware and software, will be demonstrating its latest offerings at SIGGRAPH 2008 in Los Angeles, August 12-14. Immersion's products help speed 3D modeling, motion capture, and animation workflows -- resulting in more cost-effective and higher quality productions.
The new products to be featured in booth 1422 are:
MicroScribe Connections for Maya Plug-in
The MicroScribe articulated arm digitizer and MicroScribe Connections for Maya plug-in can dramatically speed 3D modeling and animation workflows for Autodesk's Maya 2008 software. Using the MicroScribe system, users can quickly and accurately digitize physical objects while controlling point density so that the result is a "lightweight" polygon model optimized for Maya workflows. The digitized output appears in real-time, so users see the form take shape and add detail where needed. Even very small objects with fine detail can be reproduced very accurately. In addition, using the MicroScribe tip as a 3D cursor, users can move points, curves, and objects in 3D space directly, immediately, and exactly and avoid awkward and time-consuming planar mouse positioning.
Improvements to the CyberGlove II Wireless Data Glove
The CyberGlove II wireless motion capture glove now allows data collection within a 49 ft (15 m) radius, a 50 percent improvement over the previous capability. In addition, the system has been used to simultaneously collect data from as many as six performers on a production stage. Up to 12 gloves can be supported from a single computer.
Motion Capture Synchronization Software
Synchronization software customized for mocap studios provides automatic time-stamping for efficient data integration of a variety of motion capture products, including optical trackers, headcams, facial markers, and wireless CyberGlove systems. Using a central computer and a standard LAN, the captured data can be calibrated and exported in BVH or other format. Synchronizing whole-body motion capture data as it is generated during real-time production can dramatically reduce post-processing time.
VirtualHand for MotionBuilder Beta Compatibility
The beta version of VirtualHand for MotionBuilder software, developed for Autodesk's MotionBuilder 2009 Beta version is now available. Customers can use the new software package to evaluate the seamless integration of real-time hand and finger motion capture using the CyberGlove II wireless glove.
