New Trailer Released for Campanella’s 'Metegol'

A new trailer is released for the Spanish-Argentinian co-production, “Metegol,” a CG-animated soccer adventure directed by Argentina's Juan Jose Campanella.

Fresh from the Internet, here’s a new trailer for the CG-animated soccer adventure Metagol, a Spanish-Argentinian co-production from Argentinian director Juan Jose Campanella.

Marking Campanella’s first foray into animation, the 3D animated feature is based on a short story called “Memoirs of a Right Winger” by Argentine writer Roberto Fontanarrosa. The story follows Amadeo, a shy but talented boy who seeks to reunite a dismantled fusball team in order to take on its ultimate rival.

The script is by Gaston Gorali, Axel Kuschevatzky and Eduardo Sacheri, who also adapted The Secret in Their Eyes, the 2009 Academy Award-winning film directed by Campanella. The film is expected to hit international theaters sometime this year, but since it's a Spanish language-film, there’s no word yet on when it might become available in the U.S.

UPDATE: Several AWN readers pointed out that Director Juan Jose Campanella is actually from Argentina, not Spain as previously noted, and that "Metegol" is a Spanish-Argentinian co-production. The story has been updated to reflect these corrections.
