New U.S. Licensees Signed for 'Pajanimals'

The Jim Henson Company has signed additional U.S. licensees for its popular “PAJANIMALS” brand and characters.

Los Angeles, CA -- The Jim Henson Company has signed additional U.S. licensees for its popular PAJANIMALS' brand and characters. The announcement was made today by Melissa Segal, Senior Vice President of Global Consumer Products for The Jim Henson Company. A co-production with Sprout and Sixteen South Television PAJANIMALS airs daily on 24 –hour preschool television channel Sprout during The Good Night Show and on Saturday mornings on NBC.  

Among the new PAJANIMALS licensees with product slated for spring 2013 are c, an innovator in the development of games and puzzles for children of all ages. who under their MY FIRST production banner will be developing games and puzzles for PAJANIMALS fans; BuySeasons, one of the largest distributors of Halloween costumes and party supplies for adults and kids, who will be creating a line of PAJANIMALS party goods; textile manufacturer Clothworks, who will be designing a special line of PAJANIMALS fabrics; and Running Press, one of the country’s largest independent trade publishers, who will be creating a variety of PAJANIMALS picturebooks and other products developed to help promote learning and fun under its Running Press Kids imprint, for release in August 2013.

The Jim Henson Company is developing a live show around its PAJANIMALS characters, which will begin touring in spring of 2013.

“The PAJANIMALS brand and characters resonate with young children and their parents, offering much needed assistance in teaching independence and healthy lifestyle habits while also making children feel safe and secure at bedtime,” said Segal.  “Licensees recognize the incredible potential of this brand and are really stepping up with some very creative and innovative products to reinforce and support that concept.”

The new licensees join existing partners TOMY International (master toy licensee); N-Fusion Interactive, (apps); NCircle Entertainment (DVD); SaraMax Apparel Group ( sleepwear); Planet Sox (socks), Lightheaded Beds LLC (illuminated graphic children’s headboards; Starbound Entertainment,(parade balloons); and California Costumes (infant/toddler Halloween costumes).

The first products to hit retail this fall are the 9-inch and 15-inch plush versions of each of the four characters, the Snuggle Up Story Mat by TOMY, and the “Meet the Pajanimals” DVD from NCircle Entertainment.

The popular PAJANIMALS series follows the adventures of four sweet and gentle characters—Sweetpea Sue the pony, the excitable duck Squacky, the creative cow CowBella and the optimistic puppy Apollo—who were designed and built by the world-famous Oscar and Emmy Award-winning Jim Henson's Creature Shop from original concepts by Los Angeles-based toy and clothing designer, artist Jeff Muncy. Through their imaginary journeys, these cuddly musical puppets venture out on amazing journeys of discovery, modeling the skills preschoolers need to move through their days successfully.
