Nickelodeon Hits The Big 5-0

On Wednesday morning, Viacom's MTV Networks International will launch Nickelodeon Arabia, the network's 50th global channel.

The Arabic-language channel dedicated exclusively to kids ages 2 to 14 years old, will hit airwaves at 6 a.m. (KSA) tomorrow on free-to-air networks, Arabsat and Nilesat, reaching a potential audience of 190 million viewers across the Middle East.

Nickelodeon is the first global kids' media brand to create a free-to-air Arabic service across the region. Nickelodeon Arabia will air original productions from launch to ensure a wholly relevant experience for Arab audiences.

SHOOF KIDS, hosted by engaging 7-year-old Emirati, Wa'ad, will give kids the chance to send in their own home-made videos exploring interesting phenomena that's of interest to kids, which will then be aired on the channel. Hosts Rani and Asalah will welcome viewers to the JUMETNA Friday afternoon programming block, screening some of the best Nickelodeon shows along with lots of interactive games, fun and surprises.

The channel will also showcase international content from Nickelodeon's portfolio such as preschool hit DORA THE EXPLORER as well as SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS and JIMMY NEUTRON for older kids, tween live-action favorites DRAKE AND JOSH and UNFABULOUS, and the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.

The channel will be supported by a dedicated website (www.nickarabia.net) available in both Arabic and English, which will provide users with a raft of Nickelodeon content, character games and much, much more. The Nickelodeon Arabia team will work in close partnership with Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products, which oversees the licensing business across the region for Nickelodeon's global franchises.
