One Animation Announces New Key Personnel Amid Global Licensed Products Roll Out

Former Hasbro exec Anabel Higgin and licensing and brand professional Pauline Hiu join powerhouse animation studio behind ‘Oddbods’ and ‘Insectibles.’

One Animation, the powerhouse studio behind award winning animated TV productions such as Oddbods and Insectibles, has announced two key hires today as part of its continued focus on a global roll out of its licensed consumer products. Anabel Higgin joins the company as Marketing Director, and Pauline Hiu as VP Consumer Products, Asia.

Both will work as part of the growing strategic brand development team to support the studio as it enters the global roll-out phase of its successful licensing program, and further development of its properties across a variety of online and offline platforms.

Oddbods is arguably our best known show and a global ratings success, but we’re also working on new material and formats for other existing shows like Insectibles, as well as new concepts,” Sashim Parmanand, CEO of One Animation, explained. “All this is happening whilst we continue with the successful launch of our Oddbods toy range across Europe, alongside a broader range of consumer products – such as books and apparel – which will follow in the coming months. We anticipate launching similar ranges in other regions around the world in the next six to nine months, so you could say we are exceptionally busy at the moment! For this reason it is vital that we have the best people, such as Anabel and Pauline, in place to support and guide us with their knowledge and experience, as the business really accelerates through this period of development.”

Higgin and Hiu both have long and illustrious careers in this industry which will stand them in great stead to contribute towards One Animation’s continued success.

Hiu is a licensing and brand professional with 20 years’ experience in not only character and entertainment, but also lifestyle, fashion, sport and corporate brand licensing. Prior to joining One Animation Pauline was formerly VP of Global Brands Group, a member of the Li & Fung Group, and before this Licensing Director at FCI, Disney’s exclusive licensing partner in South East Asia, where she was responsible for developing its consumer products business.

“My focus at One Animation will be to build and expand on licensing, retail, promotional and corporate partnerships,” Hiu commented. “We’re looking to capitalize on the tremendous growth potential of our brand portfolio, expand into new platforms and build strategic partnerships.”

Before joining One Animation, Higgin was regional senior licensing manager in SE Asia for Hasbro where her remit was to drive expansion of the FMCG and fashion consumer products categories across the region. Anabel was also general manager of brand marketing for Global Brands Group looking after the fashion portfolio’s brands for the SE Asian Market.

“One Animation’s properties have enormous potential because of the loyalty and breadth of the fan base,” Higgin said. “We’re committed to fulfilling this potential and bringing these fans greater depth of content, expanding the number of consumer touchpoints and broadening the range of consumer products.”
