New live-action feature from the director of ‘Ice Age,’ ‘Robots’ and ‘Epic’ drives into theaters January 13, 2017.
Paramount Pictures has unveiled a new trailer for next year’s Monster Trucks feature from Ice Age, Robots and Epic director Chris Wedge. Billed as an action filled adventure for the whole family that melds cutting edge visual effects and state-of-the-art CGI, Monster Trucks “will keep you on the edge of your seat and ultimately touch your heart.”
Paramount parent company Viacom is reportedly set to take a $115 million write-down on the film, which is still two months out from release. First set for release on May 29, 2015, Monster Trucks was moved back to December 25 of that year, then March 18 2016, and eventually to next January.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp (Lucas Till), a high school senior, builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town and a most unlikely friend.
