Entertainment One’s Peppa Pig wins the top honor of ‘Best Children’s Character 2013’ at Spain’s Festival Internacional de Comunicación Infantil El Chupete.
London, UK --
Entertainment One’s (eOne) pre-school brand Peppa Pig from acclaimed British animation studio Astley Baker Davies, continues to gain traction in the Spanish market with the addition of an industry accolade.
eOne is celebrating news that Peppa Pig has just been awarded the top honour of ‘Best Children’s Character 2013’ at Spain’s Festival Internacional de Comunicación Infantil El Chupete, which recognizes creative achievements in communications and advertising aimed at children. The award is a major coup for the brand, which continues to attract top promotional and advertising partners around the world.
Peppa Pig has rapidly become a hit with both consumers and retailers in Spain since product debuted in the market in 2012. eOne’s licensing agent: El Ocho, has assembled a robust line up of over 55 licensees including partners Bandai (toys), Random House Mondadori (publishing), United Labels (apparel), Bauer (magazine) and Simba/Smoby (role play/games). The licensing programme continues to attract new partners with launches planned for events partners and FMCG.
Episodes are aired in both Spanish and English on CLAN and the show has enjoyed two years of consistent broadcast. In June 2013 Peppa achieved a 90% audience reach across 4-6 year olds and the show’s popularity also extends to online with the broadcaster website regularly achieving over 10 million hits a month on the channel website. In addition, CLAN will be using the original voice cast to help teach English to Spanish children as part of a wider educational incentive that the broadcaster is keen to drive through its children’s programming.
Andrew Carley, Head of Global Licensing at Entertainment One says, “We’re delighted that Peppa is resonating so strongly with critics and audiences in Spain. It’s always a pleasure when brands get recognized for their success and we’re thrilled to share this honour with our partners in Spain and the global Peppa family.”
