Italian animation studio Gruppo Alcuni announced that its new 3D stereoscopic CG animated feature, Pet Pals in Windland, will be presented at the 70th Venice Film Festival. The screening takes place at 1:00pm on Thursday, September 5 in the Chez Vous area of the Excelsior Hotel.

The film is a follow-up to the 2010 feature, Pet Pals: Marco Polo’s Code, directed by Sergio Manfio and co-produced by Gruppo Alcuni and Spanish company Edebe Audiovisual.

Here’s the sequel’s synopsis:

Puff, also known as Windland, is a small town where everything works thanks to the power of the wind. The wind is “born” in a cave inside a mountain behind Windland and is guarded night and day by the Wind Keeper. The evil Crow Witch is determined to get her hands on the Spinwheel which generates the wind needed to power the town and in doing so take complete control of Windland. First of all though, she must get rid of the Pet Pals, who will use all their skills and astuteness to stop the witch from carrying out her dastardly plan. An action packed family film with plenty of twists and turns, colorful characters and hilarious gags, which also highlights the importance of renewable energy sources using humour and adventure.
