Post houses Cadence Effects, Running Man, and Shishkin Productions sign on as members of the association of post-production facilities, labor unions, and individuals operating in New York; the organization develops and promotes public policy aimed at benefiting the overall film and TV industry.
The Post New York Alliance (PNYA) is an association of film and television post-production facilities, labor unions and individuals operating in New York, based on the belief that a unified industry presents the post-production community better opportunity to develop and promote public policy that benefits the film and television industry.
PNYA has announced the addition of three new companies to its membership roster:
Cadence Effects (Columbia County) is a mid-size visual effects studio was founded by visual effects supervisor Craig Crawford. The studio’s credits include the Netflix series Outer Banks, Servant for Apple TV+ and The Many Saints of Newark and Game of Thrones for HBO, as well as M. Night Shyamalan’s Old. VFX producer Jeremy Beadell joined the team in 2017 and the studio now boasts a full-time staff of about 20. Current projects include Netflix’s Stranger Things.
Because of its location, the company recruits top talent drawn by the area’s lifestyle and low cost of living. The location has also contributed to a connection with the Savannah School for Art and Design, an provided an opportunity to hire and nurture young talent.
Running Man is a boutique-size post house led by colorist Troy Thompson that delivers comprehensive editorial and finishing services in an intimate setting. Along with edit suites for hire, it offers onsite color correction, visual effects, mastering and other services. It has completed television projects for Netflix, Comedy Central, TBS, HBO, and PBS, and has serviced indie films such as Tribeca Jury Award-winner Keep the Change and SXSW Official Selection Claire in Motion.
According to Thompson, the company’s success comes from its commitment and all-in investment into its projects, as she explained, “We give our clients a one-on-one experience so that they feel that their project is our highest priority. We built our space in an unconventional way. Our rooms are incredibly spacious. We had desks custom-made by a design firm from San Francisco. We want to people to feel like they’re home.”
Shishkin Productions is a boutique post-production and motion graphics studio based in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Founded in 2017, its team includes creative director Alexei Shishkin, head of post-production Chris Eastman, head of accounts Amy Gasaway, senior podcast producer William Smith, and creative producer Vince Alvarado.
With a focus on short-form digital media, Shishkin post-produces content for Netflix, the National Hockey League, Major League Soccer, Complex Networks, First We Feast, and Treefort Music Fest. It has regularly collaborated with Portland, Oregon-based director Matt H. King on projects for brands including Adidas, Amazon, Bacardi, Dell, HP, Intel and Nike.
Said founder Shishkin, “Most everything we do is under 20 minutes,” adding that the company takes a hands-on approach and prides itself on finding creative ways to deliver unexpectedly great results. “We have a scrappy ethos, there’s nothing corporate or stuffy about us.”
