In an interesting switcheroo, 20th Century Fox has moved Ridley Scott's PROMETHEUS to JOHN CARTER OF MARS' old release date, reports Variety. Last week, Disney moved JOHN CARTER from June 8 to go head-to-head with PROMETHEUS on March 9. Now Scott's reworked ALIEN prequel story is headed to the summer.

Additionally, Fox is in talks with Michael Fassbender (INGLOURIOUS BASTARDS) to take the male lead. He would play opposite Noomi Rapace (THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO). There is one other major role in the film left to be cast and rumors have Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron as the lead candidates.

LOST's Damon Lindelof is reworking Jon Spaihts' script, which was based on an idea by producer Scott. David Giler, Walter Hill and Tony Scott are also producing.
