Portland, OR Red Giant announced that its short film, Plot Device, has won the 16th Annual Webby Award in the Best Editing category. The Webby Awards is a leading international event that honors excellence on the Internet, presented by IADAS, an organization of Web experts, visionaries and creative celebrities.

Plot Device is a nine minute film directed by independent filmmaker Seth Worley, and executive produced by Red Giant’s Aharon Rabinowitz. Aharon and Seth co-wrote the film to showcase the tools in Red Giant’s Magic Bullet Suite 11 with humor and over-the-top visual effects. The entire film was made for under $10,000, has been viewed nearly 1,000,000 times and was selected for the new Virgin Airlines comedy channel.

"Even being considered for a Webby is a huge honor, but now that we've actually been given one, I'm sure it's a mistake," said Seth Worley, Director of Plot Device. "I'm just incredibly thankful I got to work on an amazing project with a lot of great and talented people. It makes me truly happy to see people appreciate and derive as much joy from it as we have.”

"We make software for editors, so it's pretty awesome to get recognition for what happens when a talented director uses our products to support his editing work,” added Aharon Rabinowitz, Director of Communities for Red Giant and executive producer for Plot Device. “And while we know that our software was a big part of Seth's process, we also know this award isn't about software – it's about storytelling. We’re really proud of Seth and we’re stoked that our products helped him tell a great story."

Red Giant will be honored at a live online broadcast of The Webby Awards from New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom on Monday, May 21, 2012.
