The Refinery Signs with Alta Global Media

The South African post-house’s offerings range from script to screen while promoting creative financial solutions for filmmakers, including the robust South African tax incentives.

Leading South African post-production house The Refinery has signed with Alta Global Media for representation. The production house’s recent work includes the TIFF 2023 Official Selection The Umbrella Man 2… Escape from Robben Island and the international series Blood and Water, streaming on Netflix.

Based in Cape Town, The Refinery handles all aspects of picture and audio management, from script to screen. It also offers creative financial solutions for filmmakers, including robust South African tax incentives.

For The Umbrella Man 2, The Refinery handled full post-production from dailies to delivery, including color grading, sound, VFX, online, and DCP delivery to TIFF. For Blood and Water, it facilitated offline editing in four suites, VFX, and sound design.

The company also contributed to Netflix South Africa’s hugely popular The Unseen, handling offline, color grade, and finishing in HDR (Netflix South Africa’s first) and full VFX and IMF delivery.

International credits include Beast, Tomb Raider, Maze Runner: Death Cure, The Kissing Booth, Eye in the Sky, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Giver, Black Sails Season 1, and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
