Academy event will show animated shorts from the 1960s through the 1980s.
Suzan Pitt’s ‘Asparagus’ will be screened as part of an Academy event at the Metrograph in New York showing rare restored short animated films.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will screen restored and rare animation shorts Nov. 8 at the Metrograph in New York City.
The program is part of AMPAS’ year-long residency at the theater, and features shorts from the 1960s to the 1980s in 16mm, 35mm and newly restored DCP formats.
Filmmakers Frank Mouris, Nick Doob, and Robert Swarthe and composer Michael Riesman will appear in person at the screening, which will be hosted by Brian Meacham of the Yale Film Study Center.

- Ace of Light — Sky David. 1984 / 8 mins / 35mm
