The global nonprofit’s 6-episode live-action/animated film series promotes gender equality using impactful vignettes to tell stories of young women worldwide while inspiring them to confront inequality and create change.
She Creates Change features the stories of six courageous young women who have overcome challenges to create better lives for themselves. The film series, comprised of six animated shorts accompanied by live-action mini-documentaries, aims to inspire girls worldwide to use their voices, confront inequality, and create change.
To produce the film series, award-winning Nexus Studios curated a team of diverse women directors and artists from around the world with distinct visual styles, including Brenda Chapman (Brave), Jill Culton (Abominable), Freida Pinto (Mr. Malcolm’s List), and Charithra Chandran (Bridgerton).
The multimedia initiative also includes books and audio stories, and boldly aims to reach all 432 million adolescent girls (ages 12-18) in the world with content and educational curriculum that supports them in creating change in their lives and communities.
She Creates Change will be available in dozens of languages and distributed throughout the world through Room to Read programs and in partnership with community organizations and governments. Curriculum packages that align with the stories presented, based on Room to Read’s comprehensive seven-year Girls’ Education Program curriculum, will be provided online, through broadcast media and in-person programming.
