DreamWorks SHARK TALE not only retained its number one spot for the weekend ended Oct. 17, 2004, reeling in $22M, but also hit $118.7M as it climbed to the 10th spot on the all-time list of computer-animated features.
Universals FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS held the second spot with $12.2M for a cume of $37.8M, while Trey Parker and Matt Stones marionette madness, TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE did only so-so business for Paramount Pictures, capturing $12.1M in its debut. Miramaxs SHALL WE DANCE remake bowed at number four with $11.7M. Buena Vistas LADDER 49 took the fifth spot with $8.5M and a total of $53.7M. Foxs TAXI settled for sixth with $7.8M and a cume of $23.8M. Sonys THE FORGOTTEN (with vfx by The Orphanage and SPI) scared up seventh place with $6M and a total of $57.1M, making it Revolution Studios top 10 hit. New Lines RAISE YOUR VOICE slipped to number eight with $2.7M and $7.9M to date. Focus THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES held at number nine with $1.7M and $5.7M thus far. Paramounts SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW clung to number 10 with $1.2M and a disappointing cume of $35.8M, despite the gallant vfx assistance turned in by ILM, Luma Pictures, Rising Sun Pictures, Hybride Technologies, Ring of Fire, SW Digital, Pixel Liberation Front, Pacific Title Digital, Café FX, Engine Room, The Orphanage, R!OT and Digital Backlot.
