ShowEast, the conference for movie theater owners and operators, wrapped up its 19th year in Orlando on October 2, 2003. The big news for the animation community was the premiere of Disneys next 2D animated feature BROTHER BEAR, which hits theaters on November 1, 2003. As well, Warner Bros. started its major push to promote its upcoming LOONEY TUNES: BACK IN ACTION, which arrives on November 14.
AMC Entertainment's Peter Brown took home this year's Salah M. Hassanein Humanitarian Award. Universal Pictures execs Nick Carpou and Mark Gaines received the Show E Award, for achievements, accomplishments and outstanding dedication to the betterment of the motion picture experience. Cinemark International received the International Achievement Award in Exhibition and UIPs Jorge Perengrino took home the prize for International Achievement Award in Distribution.
This years attendance was up from last years event, seeing more than 1,100 attendees. ShowEast 2004 is scheduled for October 25-28, 2004. For more information, visit www.showeast.com.
