Studio AKA’s David Prosser has just completed a beautiful 3 ½ minute film, entitled Mountain, for the Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival (SICAF).
The film is David’s response to the visit he made to Seoul earlier in the year at the invitation of SICAF and is drawn from his sketchbook observations, which captured various fleeting moments of city life around him during his stay. The seemingly random elements nevertheless combine to tell the tale of a day in the life of three different characters who live in Seoul - all of whom are watched over by the ever present Mountains which ring the city.
Animated in a strikingly simple yet textural use of Flash -- and highlighting Dave’s signature use of gorgeous colour palettes -- the finished piece is as vibrant & hypnotic as is the city of Seoul itself and yet portrays a gentle and thoughtful reflection on an outsiders view.
The film will open SICAF2012 (July 18-22) and will also be presented throughout the SICAF events.
