Surf Music Icon Added to Kiddo the Super-Truck

Surf n Drag music icon Gary Usher Jr. has been named music segment producer for MagicDreams first 3D direct-to-DVD feature, KIDDO THE SUPER-TRUCK.

Gary is the go-to-guy Hollywood goes to when a production needs a Surf n Drag sound, said MagicDreams producer Venessa Hart. And Surf n Drag has been an integral part of KIDDOs musical structure from the beginning. You cant produce a successful car cartoon without it.

Ushers father produced music for THE BEACH BOYS, THE BEATLES and THE BYRDS and Usher plans to use some of his fathers work on the new project as well as reworkings of classics like 409, SURFIN SAFARI and LITTLE HONDA.

Ushers Surf n Drag sound, beloved in Japan and Australia, will certainly help endear KIDDO to audiences in those, as well as other territories where pure musical fun is embraced by young and young-at-heart alike, said Fernando Shaw, managing director of MarVista, distributors of the CG feature.

Other musical artists on the project include reggae legend Lloyd Bread McDonald, English rocker Karling Abbeygate, songstress Lily Holbrook and blues man Roger Ridley.

The DVD feature will be released worldwide this Christmas. Additionally, a 26-episode CG series is being prepped for the spring of 2005.

MagicDreams is the ambitious little studio on L.A.s west side. Headed up by Venessa Hart and William DuBay, the studio was formed in 2002 when DuBay inked an agreement with Rajesh Shah, managing director of MUV Studios in Chennai, India, to produce five episodes of the SUPER-TRUCK series. Reaction to the first episodes was so positive that distributor MarVista presold the animated feature to DVD distributors in every major territory from Western through Eastern Europe (and a smattering of Asia).
