WATCH: Pixomondo Tackles Trailer for Ubisoft’s ‘Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint’

VFX supervisor Nhat Phong Tran and team help actor Jon Bernthal blast his way through enemy territory in trailer for new action shooter video game.

Leading design company Pixomondo has just shared with AWN a breakdown reel highlighting their VFX wizardry on the trailer for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, entry number 11 in the gaming giant’s Tom Clancy Ghost Recon franchise that first launched back in November 2001. Ubisoft’s newest edition in the hugely successful tactical shooter video game series was just released October 4.

In the action-packed spot, actor Jon Bernthal, known to many as Marvel’s The Punisher, reprises the role of Lt. Colonel Cole D. Walker.

Led by Emmy-nominated VFX supervisor Nhat Phong Tran, Pixomondo’s team handled the physical and post-production work on the trailer; in a move rarely seen these days, they worked directly with Ubisoft sans creative agency middleman. Pixomondo’s Lena Bahrs executive produced the spot, with Dan Carbo serving as VFX producer.

“Pixomondo helped bring our vision to life, capturing the character of Walker’s transformation from being a Ghost, an elite US Special Operations soldier, to leader of the Wolves,” noted Mike Rhinehart, associate director of marketing, Ubisoft. “We’re very happy with the final trailer that seamlessly walks viewers though pivotal moments in Walker’s life.”

Avi Youabian, who directed The Walking Dead and the short The Walking Dead: Red Machete, helmed the trailer for Ubisoft. He previously worked with the game company on their 2017 game release, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands: War Within the Cartel.
