Cinema Management Group has signed worldwide sales rights to $16 million 3-D/CGI feature animated film LOUIS LA CHANCE. Currently in production, LOUIS LA CHANCE is a hilarious, fast paced, action-packed animated feature set during the early years of the Monaco Grand Prix.

Annecy Selections Announced

Everything but the feature film category has been announced for Annecy 2008.

This year, 43 short films, 41 TV series, four TV specials, seven educational, scientific or industrial films, 31 advertising films, six music videos, 75 graduation films and 56 short films in panorama made the cut.

The International Animated Film Festival and Market will be held in France from June 9-14, 2008.

Aardman Animations hit childrens brand SHAUN THE SHEEP continues to expand its international presence, securing a raft of new TV and licensing deals worldwide.

Since its launch at MIPCOM 06, SHAUN THE SHEEP has racked up television sales and licensing deals in over 150 territories and has won several prestigious accolades including the Cristal Award for Best TV Production at the Annecy Animated Film Festival 2007 and the Audience Choice Award at the World Comedy Film Festival 2007.

Aardman Acquires Award-Winning Peter and the Wolf

Aardman International has secured the worldwide TV, DVD and online rights to the award-winning PETER AND THE WOLF. The half-hour stop-motion animated film has already been licensed in several territories.

Produced by BreakThru Films, this latest film version of Prokofiev's classic work was first aired on Channel 4 last year. It was adapted and directed by the BAFTA-award-winning Suzie Templeton and set to a special new recording by the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Annecy Teams with Toondra on VOD Service

The Annecy International Animated Film Festival and Toondra.com, the first VOD site devoted to short animated films, are partnering to offer a showcase of international animation. More than 1,000 extracts of short films submitted for the festival's official selection will be available for free on www.toondra.com, and the service will be frequently updated with new extracts. TV-Loonland To Distribute Nippon's Penelope

TV-Loonland announced its appointment by Japanese production company Nippon Animation to handle multi-territory distribution for its pre-school property PENELOPE (26x5).

Under the deal, TV-Loonland will handle rights for TV, home video, VOD, broadband, IPTV and mobile sales to Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, Baltic States, Scandinavia, Israel, the Middle East as well as Africa, including South Africa.

Augenblick Studios Animates Short for The Ten Theatrical Release

THE TEN, a feature film directed by David Wain featuring Paul Rudd, Wionan Ryder, and Jessica Alba features a seven-minute animated segment called, THE LYING RHINO, animated by Augenblick Studios. Produced by Wain, Jonathan Stern and Paul Rudd, THE TEN is a THINKFilm release opening Aug. 3, 2007.

Disney Starts Renaissance on DVD

The digitally animated sci-fi crime thriller RENAISSANCE has arrived on DVD from Miramax Home Ent. The film was crowned Best Picture at the 2006 Annecy International Film Festival and was an official selection at last year's Toronto Film Festival. The DVD sells for $29.99.

Kahani World & Accel Animation Team Up For Animated Feature Films & DVDs

Kahani World Inc. in Canada and Accel Animation Studios in India have packed to produce three motion pictures and 11 direct-to-DVDs, which the parties hope to spin off into further opportunities in TV, mobile, new media & web formats. One of the largest motion picture deals in Indian animation, the parties toasted the deal at MIFA last month during Annecy, to mark the first international market where Indian animation companies had come together to present India's capabilities and accomplishments on the world stage.

Animated 'Kirikou and the Sorceress' Transitions to Stage Musical

The award-winning French animated film, KIRIKOU AND THE SORCERESS, is making the transition to a stage musical this fall in a new production, KIRIKOU AND KARABA.

Michel Ocelot, creator/writer/director of the film, has written the musical's libretto and additional lyrics. The project is taking the majority of his time he told a press gathering at the Annecy Festival, during a Q&A session after a screening of his latest film, AZUR ET ASMAR.

Aardman Animations has found an American home for its internationally successful children's property SHAUN THE SHEEP. The animated series, which just last week won the Cristal Award as Best TV Production at the Annecy Animated Film Festival, will premiere on Disney Channel on Sunday, July 8, 2007, in primetime. Since its successful launch as the most viewed show at Mipcom 2006, the property has sold to primary broadcasters in 145 territories including Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Germany, India, France, Benelux, Japan and Latin America.

Templeton Triumphs at Annecy 2007

The coveted short film Annecy Cristal award at the 31ST International Festival of Animated Film at Annecy went to PETER AND THE WOLF by Suzie Templeton for the U.K. and Poland, as well as the Audience Award, while the Cristal for Best Feature went to FREE JIMMY by Christopher Nielsen for Norway and the U.K. The awards were presented at the closing ceremony held on Saturday, June 16, 2007, in Annecy, France.

The Annecy international animation market MIFA opened its doors this morning to sunshine and a marked growth in, as well as a greater variety of participants, while the festival, which started on Monday, dealt with rain and less U.S.-based company sponsors.

While the absence of a big presence from Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network is quite noticable, the French broadcasters and other Europeans have filled the gap for what is the premiere animation festival in the world.
