Dark Horse Rides with Incredible Comics

At Comic-Con, Dark Horse Comics announced that it will publish a four-issue comic book adaptation of the Pixar film THE INCREDIBLES. Dark Horse's adaptation will feature art by Ricardo Curtis, one of the storyboard artists on the film.

In addition, Dark Horse announced a new manga series, Katsuya Terada's THE MONKEY KING, a manga adaptation of the popular Chinese legend. It will feature the toughest monkey in the East, who is on a mission to retrieve the legendary scrolls of Buddha. The first volume will hit stores in March 2005.

Superman Voice Silenced; Danny Dark Dead at 65

Danny Dark, the voice of Superman in the SUPERFRIENDS animated series as well as announcer for StarKist Tuna, Budweiser and many other national brands in television and radio commercials, died on June 13, 2004 in Los Angeles at the age of 65.

The cause of death was bleeding in the lungs, said Dark's brother, the Rev. Robert Croskery, according to the NEW YORK TIMES.

In the StarKist commercials, he told Charlie Tuna, "sorry, Charlie." Dark said, "This Bud's for you" in Budweiser spots, and "Raid kills bugs dead," in commercials for Raid Ant & Roach Killer.

Image & Dark Horse Team on Distribution Deal

DVD producer/distributor Image Ent. and comicbook-based media company Dark Horse Ent. have partnered to produce and distribute live-action and animation genre movies, music and other entertainment programming. John Landis has signed on to write and direct a horror film for the jointly owned Dark Horse Home Ent., whose film will initially be direct-to-DVD films. In addition, Bruce Campbell and novelist and graphic novel writer Neil Gaiman have agreed to be involved in several upcoming productions.

Dark Fury Helps Animate Riddick on DVD

As with last month's VAN HELSING: LONDON ASSIGNMENT, THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK: DARK FURY (Universal Home Video, $14.98), provides an animated prequel to the accompanying live-action feature. DARK FURY, directed by anime sensation Peter Chung (THE ANIMATRIX and MTV's AEON FLUX), and produced by Universal Home Ent. Prods., streets June 15, 2005.

Mythic Entertainment to Release New Expansion Title Dark Age of Camelot: Trials

Mythic Entertainment, developer and publisher of online gaming, have announced a new expansion to their online game, DARK AGE OF CAMELOT entitled TRIALS OF ATLANTIS. The program is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2003.

"Once again Mythic is extending the world of DARK AGE OF CAMELOT," said Mark Jacobs, president/ceo, Mythic Entertainment. "Fans will be excited by the new quests, new races and Master Level system, not to mention our new graphic engine that will deliver sophisticated underwater and improved above ground visuals."

Boll Kino Will Soon Be Alone In The Dark

Following in the footsteps of video games turned feature films such as RESIDENT EVIL and TOMB RAIDER, interactive game developer Infogrames, Inc. and Dritte/Vierte Boll Kino Beteiligungs-GmbH & Co KG (Boll Kino) are taking the horror game ALONE IN THE DARK from the computer screen to the big screen. Infogrames has sold Boll Kino the theatrical feature film rights to the classic game. Under the agreement, Boll Kino will control exclusive worldwide theatrical film rights to ALONE IN THE DARK, as well as video, DVD, television, cable and pay-per-view rights for the film.

Dark Horse & SAF Team Up For Toon Film Venture

Dark Horse Entertainment and Slovenia-based Strip Art Features (SAF) have teamed up to create a new company, Venture, which will publish graphic novels and comic books with the intent to launch them onto film and television. The first graphic novel to be produced by the firm will be BLOOD TIES by Belgian artist Hermann and writer Yves H. The story is described as a Faustian tale that journeys into a rotten big city with a junior detective from the suburbs named Sam Leighton.
