SEGA Announces New Aliens vs. Predator Game
SEGA of America, SEGA Europe and Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising have revealed new details of their increasing portfolio of upcoming games based on Twentieth Century Fox's ALIENS universe.
SEGA will publish an all-new ALIENS VS. PREDATOR (working title) game in early 2010. The game is currently in development with independent developer Rebellion, creators of the original 1999 ALIENS VERSUS PREDATOR; a legendary title that went on to define an entire generation of multiplayer gaming.
SEGA Launches New Community And Gaming Site
SEGA Europe and SEGA of America have launched PlaySEGA, a completely new SEGA experience for all types of gaming and social networking fans. PlaySEGA is based at www.PlaySEGA.com and is a mini web game portal with a selection of arcade, word, card, puzzle, quiz, Sonic and sports titles, which are available now and free to all PC and Mac users.
SEGA Purchases New Unreal Engine 3 License
SEGA of America has extended its relationship with Epic Games by signing a new Unreal Engine 3 licensing deal for an unannounced, cross-platform game.
SEGA entered into its original licensing agreement to develop multiple titles with Unreal Engine 3 in May 2007. Details of the project in development will be released at a later date.

Sega Broadens Game Offerings on Steam
Sega and Valve announced an agreement to deliver a lineup of new Sega titles to customers around the world via Steam, the leading online platform for PC games. The new available games include UNIVERSE AT WAR: EARTH ASSAULT, THE GOLDEN COMPASS, SEGA RALLY REVO, SEGA REVO, WORLDWIDE SOCCER MANAGER, FUTBOL MANAGER and more. SEGA Seals Unreal Deal, Updates on Trio of Upcoming Titles

SEGA To Create Captain America, Hulk & Thor Games
Marvel Ent. Inc., SEGA Europe Ltd and SEGA of America Inc. have expanded their relationship to include the rights to develop and distribute games inspired by Marvel's franchises -- CAPTAIN AMERICA, THE INCREDIBLE HULK and THOR. Through the exclusive, multi-year global licensing agreement, SEGA will create titles for console, handheld and PC platforms based upon both the classic comicbooks and planned feature film adaptations of these superheroes.
Berman Returns to TMS Post
Andrew Berman, a 20-year veteran of the entertainment industry has returned to TMS Ent. as evp/gm of TMS Ent. USA Inc. TMS Ent. Ltd. (TMS), is an affiliate of videogame giant SEGA Corp. in Japan and is one of the largest and most prolific anime producers and distributors in the world today.
Berman oversees the North American operations for TMS. His responsibilities include sales and marketing of an expansive animation library, as well as further expanding the existing business of TMS and SEGA Corp. relating to entertainment programming.
SEGA & Fox to Hunt Alien Videogames Together
SEGA of America Inc., SEGA Europe Ltd. and 20th Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising announced a worldwide exclusive agreement to bring game content based on the critically-acclaimed ALIEN film franchise to next-generation gaming systems. Multiple titles, including a first-person shooter and a role-playing game, are in pre-production with the first to be released in 2009.
Marvel Issues Q3 Report, Looks Forward to Iron Man
Marvel Ent. initiated financial guidance for 2007 and revised its financial guidance for 2006. The financial guidance was provided in conjunction with the reporting of operating results for the third quarter and nine-month periods ended Sept. 30, 2006.
For Q3 2006, Marvel reported net income of $13.2 million, or $0.16 per diluted share, net of a $0.7 million charge for FAS 123R share-based payments. This compares to net income of $23.4 million, or $0.23 per diluted share, in the year-ago third quarter period, which did not include any stock option expense.
SEGA Acquires Notable San Francisco-Based Developer
SEGA Holdings U.S.A. Inc. has acquired acclaimed developer Secret Level Inc. to establish new internal development arm in North America. Founded in 1999 and headed by Jeremy Gordon, San Francisco-based Secret Level is a leading videogame developer well-known in the industry for developing cutting-edge next-generation technology.
The Secret Level, Inc. development studio will continue to operate out of its current office in San Francisco.
SEGA Enters China Market for Online Game Business
SEGA Corp. has announced plans to enter the Chinese market for online gaming. In preparation for full-scale business operations in China, the company has established a branch office in Shanghai -- SEGA (Shanghai) Software Co. SEGA views the Chinese a strategic market for growth in multiplayer online gaming market with more than 10 million online gamers. The company plans to establish the regional business through its local branch offices, with content designed to appeal to market-specific tastes and demand.
Sega Developing Advanced Mouth Movements Technology
Sega has announced its development of new software for future use in games that will allow for more realistic mouth movements with character voices. Magical VEngine form these movements by comparing vowels and consonants sounds against each other then use the data to create more natural facial movements in realtime. In addition, the software will analyze voice actors' speech automatically choosing the proper facial animations, thus expressing more accurate moods. Sega will unveil the technology at the Tokyo Institute of Technology at the end of the month.
SEGA Bringing Astro Boy to PS2 and GBA
SEGA of America, Inc. will partner with Sony Pictures Consumer Products to bring Tezuka Productions' legendary Japanese comic ASTRO BOY to life on PlayStation 2 and Game Boy Advance. ASTRO BOY, created by Osamu Tezuka in 1951, is one of the most recognized characters in Japanese animation and premiered in the U.S. recently as a brand-new animated series on Kids' WB!
Sega Posts $169M Loss In First Half, Cuts Price Of Dreamcast Console
An AP Newswire brief stated that Sega Corp. has reported a $169 million loss for the first fiscal half, largely because the declining value of its investments more than offset the improvement in its video-game business. Sega, which earlier in 2001 abandoned production of its Dreamcast game system, has also announced another reduction in price for the discontinued console. The Dreamcast system, which originally retailed for $199, will now be available for $49.99. Sega hopes the drastically reduced price will move the remaining 270,000 units out of stores by the end of the holiday season.
Sega And THQ Announce Multi-Title Co-Publishing Agreement
THQ Inc. and Sega Corporation have entered into an exclusive, multi-title co-publishing agreement under which THQ will co-publish 16 Game Boy Advance titles featuring Sega brands in North America through 2003. The launch will begin with six titles released through March 2002. The agreement provides Sega with greater exposure on the Game Boy Advance platform as it transitions exclusively to software publishing and provides THQ with content to help solidify its position as a leading independent Game Boy Advance publisher.
Sega Announces New Marketing Divisions, New Group Marketing Director
As part of the company's transition from video game hardware manufacturer to platform-agnostic third party publisher, Sega of America is expanding its marketing organization into two focused divisions -- sports and entertainment properties. Sega will also begin hiring personnel immediately into the expanded marketing organization. To this end, Sega announced the addition of Mike Fischer to the Sega marketing team as group director of product marketing for the entertainment division. Fischer brings more than eleven years of experience in video game marketing to Sega.
Sega Gains Marketing Veteran
Sega of America has appointed Joseph Culley as vice president of marketing. Culley will help steer marketing, advertising and promotional campaigns for Sega Dreamcast and SegaNet. A brand-building veteran with most recently Levi Strauss & Co, Culley has 14 years experience in consumer marketing, business development and brand positioning. As vice president of marketing, Culley will oversee Sega's brand strategy and marketing programs, including positioning, advertising, corporate identity and channel marketing.

Stolar Shines As New Mattel Interactive Pres
