The Union of Ukrainian Animators UAIMA, within the program #UkraineEverywhere of the Ukrainian Institute, presents an interactive online project "60s - The Lost Treasures", starting on 17 December 2020.
The project is filled with the spirit and creativity of indomitable artists of the ’60s, which did not succumb to boring stereotypical images of Soviet art but instead created their own bright path, which left an incredible mark on the cultural heritage of Ukraine and the world.
The 1960s decade is a period of rebellion, the struggle for civil rights. These are the American student protests, the revolutionary events in France and the Soviet sixties. It is also the second wave of feminism and the rights movement. This rebellious spirit of the time in Soviet-era Ukraine manifested itself in culture and the national question. The gradual realization of Russification, marginalization of Ukrainian culture provoked the opposition and defense of Ukrainian identity.
The project is implemented by the Ukrainian Animation Association within the Ukraine Everywhere program of the Ukrainian Institute.
