The San Francisco Arts Commission, in collaboration with the Cartoon Art Museum, will present a Golden Gate Comics Workshop on Sunday, January 25, 2009 from 1-4 p.m. at the Cartoon Art Museum, located at 655 Mission Street between Montgomery and 3rd Streets in San Francisco's South of Market District. The artists Briana Miller and Thien Pham will present demonstrations of comic book techniques and a hands-on silk screen workshop that is open to the public and free of charge.

DreamWorks animator Devin Crane will debut his latest collection of art at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City titled "Love and Tears." Bombarded by the daily reports of America's economic decline, Crane's showcase examines America's obsession with excess in relation to the manifested need for love and interpersonal connection. Inspired by Crane's own personal experiences and pain from a series of relationships, "Love and Tears" captures the essence of 15 subjects and their endless quest for true love.

Horton Hears a Who Exhibition in SoHo

On the eve of the December 9 release of Twentieth Century Fox Home Ent.'s DR. SEUSS' HORTON HEARS A WHO! on DVD and Blu-ray, Animazing Gallery in New York City will unveil its collection of unique storyboards from the creation process of the original animated film. This exhibition contains more than 70 original works from the Chuck Jones version of the classic Dr. Seuss story. Animazing also has original production cels and drawings from the Animated film, as well as Dr Seuss hand-drawn illustrations and limited edition prints from the HORTON HEARS A WHO book.

Totoro Forest Project Reception

The Cartoon Art Museum will present original works of art from The Totoro Forest Project Charity Auction, a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition featuring paintings, illustrations and sculptures from nearly 200 critically acclaimed animators, fine artists, cartoonists and illustrators. All of the artwork featured in the exhibition was inspired by Hayao Miyazaki's iconic animated feature film MY NEIGHBOR TORORO.
