The First Annual FilmMakers' Expo will run tandem with the AFI Fest for two days at the historic ArcLight Cinemas/Cinerama Dome in Hollywood. Approximately 70 exhibitors and 10 panels & workshops are currently being scheduled for the two day event. This expo is one of the few of its kind - a unique opportunity to connect with a mix of burgeoning and experienced independent filmmakers who are looking to connect with vendors & services in the trade. It is also a "classroom," where technology, technique and the incentive to "imagine" will proffer up unique tools and profitable contacts.
The first annual ShowBiz Expo's Entertainment Technology World will be held in Chicago at The Donald Stephen's Conference Center (formally Rosemont Convention Center). The event will consist of a four-day technical conference (November 6 - 9) and two-day Expo (November 7 - 8). This spin-off of ShowBiz Expo covers hot new technologies including hi-def production, digital video production, digital distribution, VFX software, capture technologies, DVD authoring, etc.
Artist, curator, nonprofit veteran, and CalArts faculty member Karen Atkinson will once again teach her famed survival workshop series for emerging and mid-career artists working in the Greater L.A. area. For years, Get Your Sh*T Together was only available to students at CalArts. The SFWEB3D presents X3D Unreal and for Real: Making Content in X3D. X3D and Realtime3D are fast becoming the next phase of digital media for the Web, corporate intranets, hand helds, phones and beyond. This month's meeting is a special "hands on look at making X3D content." First, Dave Arendash of Manyone.net, the new owners of the Flux X3D browser, will show us how to make X3D and VRML scenes and worlds using the UNREAL game engine and editor. Arendash has created an exporter that will convert Unreal levels and worlds into X3D.
