Flash for animators and artists.

Pat Hacker, Visit Scooter's World.

I figured they had to be working on a more animation friendly version... can't wait to get my hands on that!

Flash 2004MX wasn't a big hit with artists and animators, they didn't upgrade, and Macromedia's profit estimates didn't live up to the the forcasts. I think that's why they are seriously looking at those parts of the program that most of us here work with. Flashes roots are graphic why they chose to forget them is something I can't understand.

Phacker, thank you sooo much for posting a link to that!!! I was able to put my two cents in:

"I have been using Flash MX, and one of the things I HATED when trying out MX 2004 was the fact that the NORMAL MODE for action scripting was gone! For the life of me, I couldn't even come up with directing a link to a web address without having to learn how to code. I'm an artist, and my time is valuable. Yes, it's been said that you can learn action scripting if you put enough time into it. But honestly, something that I was able to do with a couple of clicks should stay that simple! I have deadlines, and can't stop everything to learn a scripting language! PLEASE PUT NORMAL MODE BACK IN! I'd hate for this latest version to be an animator's dream, but still have to take it back into MX to make buttons and links."

I think a lot of the people posting comments on that page are animators for broadcast and don't do a lot of web stuff, so I had to have my request heard!

Yeah, thanks for the link Phacker. I also added my input as well. Yeah, most of us posting are boadcast animators, but I think most of the posts will help animators who work for web as well. I think Macromedia was thinking in the right direction with MX 2004 having animator and web design versions. The only thing was that there wasn't really any difference. I think one version had more action scripting stuff in it. My biggest problem was the undo's in 2004, and I really hope they fix that. Also it didn't seem as stable as past versions. Befor I worked on 2004, I never, NEVER, had Flash crash on me, now it happens quite frequently. And it doesn't even lock up. It just closes the program with no crash window nothing. Oh well. Just venting. :( Lets hope they make it better.
