Animal Logic Integrating into Netflix Animation, Karen Toliver to Lead

The streamer's VP of Animation Film will head the completely integrated global studio; former Animal Logic CEO Sharon Taylor has resigned.

Nearly two years after Netflix’s acquisition of Animal Logic, the Australian animation studio will now be completely integrated into Netflix Animation, with the streamer's Animation Film VP Karen Toliver set to lead. Former Animal Logic CEO Sharon Taylor has resigned as part of the restructuring.

Animal Logic has produced award-winning design, visual effects, and animation for over 30 years. Headquartered in Sydney, Animal Logic set up a second studio in Vancouver, Canada in 2015 and has worked on Hollywood blockbusters including Happy Feet, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, The LEGO Movies and Peter Rabbit 1 & 2, alongside a catalog of amazing visual effects work such as The Matrix, Moulin Rouge!, 300, and The Great Gatsby.

Since the 2022 acquisition, the studio has created Wendy Rogers’ adaptation of the Kate DiCamillo fantasy The Magician’s Elephant and the Adam Sandler-led Leo. Currently in the works is Ron Howard’s animated feature The Shrinking of Treehorn, based on the novel by Florence Parry Heide.
