The company’s streaming platform for industry professionals just released its latest collection of shorts as a prelude to the upcoming awards season, including ‘27’ by Flóra Anna Buda, ‘Electra’ by Daria Kashcheeva, and ‘The Day I Became a Bird’ by Andrew Ruhemann; program also tours animation studios in Europe and North America.
The Animation Showcase shared its 2023 Best Animated Short Film Collection lineup, launched last week on The Animation Showcase streaming platform - exclusively for animation industry professionals. The program will also tour animation studios in Europe and North America.
This year’s collection highlights festival favorites in leadup to the upcoming awards season, including the acclaimed 27 by Flóra Anna Buda, winner of the Palme d’Or at the Festival de Cannes, and The Cristal at the Annecy Festival, alongside the impactful ELECTRA, the latest work by Oscar-Nominated director Daria Kashcheeva, and the directorial return of Oscar winner Andrew Ruhemann with The Day I Became a Bird.
“We are extremely proud to announce the worldwide release of this year’s Best Animated Short Film Collection, featuring beautifully crafted and poignant award-winning shorts,” said The Animation Showcase curator and founder Benoit Berthe Siward. “These shorts showcase an incredible array of talent, and we are very pleased to notice that two-thirds of the films have been directed or co-directed by women.’’

The Animation Showcase streaming platform launched during COVID-19 in 2020 to reach a wider industry audience, offering them behind-the-scenes featurettes, filmmaker interviews, and other bonus materials to accompany the films showcased on the platform. The platform has a global reach of 50,000 industry members and around 20,000 regular users.
