Sam Raimi produces, Evan Spiliotopoulos writes and directs, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan stars in a supernatural horror thriller about a young deaf girl who's visited by the Virgin Mary... or something much more sinister; film hits theatres this Good Friday, April 2.
Hitting theatres just in time to scare the daylights out of us on Good Friday, April 2, Screen Gems is releasing a new supernatural horror thriller, The Unholy. The film follows Alice, a young hearing-impaired girl who, after a supposed visitation from the Virgin Mary, is inexplicably able to hear, speak, and heal the sick. As word spreads and people from near and far flock to witness her miracles, a disgraced journalist hoping to revive his career visits the small New England town to investigate. When terrifying events begin to happen all around, he starts to question if these phenomena are the works of the Virgin Mary or something much more sinister.
The Unholy is written for the screen and directed by Evan Spiliotopoulos, produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Spiliotopoulos, and executive produced by Andrea Ajemian and Romel Adam. The film is based upon James Herbert’s best-selling book Shrine. Raoul Yorke Bolognini serves as VFX supervisor; credited for visual effects production are Switch VFX and MELS.
It stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Katie Aselton, William Sadler, and Cricket Brown, with Diogo Morgado and Cary Elwes.
Check out the rather nicely paced and you know things are gonna go south trailer – as the poster says, “Be careful who you pray to:”
