‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Reportedly Facing Reshoots

After a production rife with snags and endless setbacks, the highly anticipated ‘Black Panther’ sequel is reportedly facing reshoots two months before its November 11 theatrical premiere.

Wakanda…eventually?  The highly anticipated Black Panther sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, has faced multiple snags and setbacks during production, including the tragic loss of the Panther himself, Chadwick Boseman, injury to lead actress Letitia Wright (Shuri), and multiple COVID-19 shutdowns.

Now, additional reshoots are reportedly underway, just two months before the planned theatrical release on November 11. Reshoots also occurred in July shortly after Comic-Con, Namor actor Tenoch Huerta revealed during an interview with W Radio. Maybe something isn’t working? Before the reshoots, the project reportedly wrapped filming in Puerto Rico this past March. However, reshoots don’t have to be all doom and gloom. The team could be cooking up an amazing post credit scene, or something as simple as needing extra coverage.

The official synopsis for Wakanda Forever states the film, “will continue to explore the incomparable world of Wakanda and all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film.” We also know the nation of Wakanda is pitted against intervening world powers as they mourn the loss of their king T'Challa. The film was written and directed by Ryan Coogler. VFX is being created by Cinesite, Digital Domain, ILM, RISE, SSVFX, Storm Studis, Wētā FX, under the watchful eyes of Production VFX Supervisor Geoffrey Baumann.

Only time will tell if Marvel Studios need to push out the release date; for now, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to hit theaters November 11, 2022.
