Cartoon Network Latin America Acquires Monster Series & Special

Cartoon Network Latin America has acquired animation series, BROTOWN, JUNGLE BEAT and the animated special, APE, from Monster Distributes and its Latin American agent HOLA Ent.

JUNGLE BEAT (13x5), from Sunrise Media, has also just been sold to Rai Cinema Italy, Orf Austria, Multithematiques France and Lagardere Images in the Middle East. Previously sold to many other territories, the non-dialogue CGI series, the first animated series from Zimbabwe, features a cast of animals including Giraffe, Monkey, Bee and Tortoise, in bizarre situations with hilarious results.

New Zealands animated series, BROTOWN (20x30), from Firehorse Films, has been a huge hit on TV3 in New Zealand and, more recently, on the Fox Comedy Channel in Australia, and is now catching on around the world. Heralded as, "THE SIMPSONS of the South Pacific," BROTOWN chronicles schoolboy misadventures in a proudly suburban, non-PC satire. Its primary aim is to make people laugh, as well as foster tolerance by confronting delicate issues like racism and violence.

Award-winning animated special, APE, voiced by Alfred Molina and Dom Irrera, tells the story of an orangutan who escapes from the zoo, learns to pass himself off as a man and goes on to become a famous chat show presenter (described as a cross between Jay Leno and Tony Soprano). APE has also been sold to RTE Ireland, Animania, MNet South Africa, DBS Israel, Rialto Channel New Zealand, SSR Switzerland and several airlines.

Monster is also celebrating the recent Academy Award nomination for its THE MYSTERIOUS GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORATIONS OF JASPER MORELLO, Anthony Lucas short feature made in a unique style of silhouette animation. Inspired by the work of authors Edgar Alan Poe and Jules Verne, the film is set in a world of iron dirigibles and steam powered computers. This gothic horror mystery tells the story of Jasper Morello, a disgraced aerial navigator who flees his plague-ridden home on a desperate voyage to redeem himself.. This is the third Academy Award nomination for an animated film distributed by Monster in the last three years.
