Cloudy on Horizon for Sony Pictures Animation

CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS, based on the illustrated book by Judi Barrett and Ron Barrett, is apparently on track to become the fourth 3D-animated feature at Sony Pictures Animation. Yair Landau, president of Sony Pictures Digital, touted the project, one of the first put into development when the animation company was formed in 2002, at yesterdays SPA roadshow presentation on the Sony lot in Culver City.

Bizarre foods fall from the sky when a scientist tries to solve world hunger in CLOUDY. Originally developed by directors Paul and Gaetan Brizzi, CLOUDY has been reworked by directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. No release date has been set.

Under the leadership of exec vps Penney Finkelman Cox and Sandra Rabins, SPA launches with OPEN SEASON on Sept. 29, followed by SURFS UP (directed by Ash Brannon and Chris Buck) on June 8, 2007, and then HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA (helmed by OPEN SEASON vets Anthony Stacchi and David Feiss).
