DIGIC and Axis Studios Partner on ‘Words Apart’ Animated Fantasy Adventure

The studios’ co-development projects kick off with the 4-quadrant film set in a world split by two powerful feuding brothers with clashing convictions.

DIGIC (Love Death & Robots: The Secret War) and Axis Studios (Scrooge: A Christmas Carol, Love Death & Robots, Happy!) are collaborating on a two-project partnership to co-develop and produce a four-quadrant animated feature, targeting all major movie-going demographics.

The Worlds Apart series is a fantasy adventure set in a world split by two powerful feuding brothers with clashing convictions. One brother’s obsession is with order and discipline, the other with an overdose of magical frivolity, all with a war looming on the horizon.

Hungary-based production studio DIGIC creates cinematic trailers and in-game cutscenes for video game franchises such as Assassin's Creed; Call of Duty; League of Legends; Destiny; Witcher; and Final Fantasy. The studio’s short film The Secret War, produced for Netflix’s Love, Death & Robots animation anthology, received industry recognition, winning an Annie Award. In April 2022, the company joined the Embracer Group as a Saber Interactive business division subsidiary.

“We are very excited to bring Axis Studios on board in this groundbreaking partnership,” commented DIGIC's CEO Alex S. Rabb. “Combining our creative forces and vast production experience to create Worlds Apart, an animated feature that illuminates the significance of unity in a divided world. Our collective aim is to inspire audiences to embrace acceptance and celebrate diversity, fostering a shared vision of a more harmonious future.”

Axis Studio CEO Richard Scott added, “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Alex and the DIGIC team as we work together to bring Worlds Apart to life. This collaboration unites two creative groups with shared ambitions in storytelling. I firmly believe that by combining our capabilities and skill sets, we will create a formidable creative force that will make Worlds Apart a fantastic combination of timeless storytelling, fantasy, magic, and action.”

Established in 1999, Axis has partnered with Netflix; Universal; Tencent; Amazon Studios; Mattel; Microsoft; and Activision Blizzard across CG animation and IP development. Credits include Netflix feature Scrooge: A Christmas Carol, LEGO: City Adventures, and the Emmy-winning shows Lost in Oz and Love, Death & Robots.

The studios expect to take the project to market before the end of 2023.
