The very R-rated film, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the titular role, tells the visceral origin story of the villain before his notorious vendetta with Spider-Man, in theaters October 6, 2023.
Kraven the Hunter reveals the visceral origin story of the iconic villain, before his notorious vendetta with Spider-Man. Interestingly, the bloody Spider-Man spinoff is not the first MCU film for Taylor-Johnson, who previously portrayed Pietro Maximoff / Quicksilver in the Avengers franchise. Do they think we can’t see past the beard?
While Sony had (reportedly) eyed Keanu Reeves for the role, the John Wick star turned down the opportunity. The ensuing competition was stiff, and included A-listers like Brad Pitt and Kylo Ren himself, Adam Driver.
Joining Taylor-Johnson are Ariana DeBose as Calypso; Fred Hechinger as Chameleon; Alessandro Nivola as The Rhino; Christopher Abbott as The Foreigner; and Russell Crowe in an undisclosed role.
The film is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and David Householter. VFX are created by Clear Angle Studios, Image Engine, MPC, and Technicolor LA, with Richard R. Hoover acting as production visual effects supervisor.
