Disney Gives First Look at 'Avatar Land'

Disney releases concept art for the 'Avatar' installation underway at the Animal Kingdom theme park located at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

The Disney Parks Blog has a first look at the Avatar installation underway at Disney’s Orlando-based Animal Kingdom theme park located at the Walt Disney World Resort.

First announced in 2011, the exhibit is being created in collaboration with James Cameron and Lightstorm Entertainment to bring the world of Pandora to life.

Expected to open its doors in 2016, AVATAR Land will be a recreation of the terrain of the mythical planet Pandora, as seen in the movie. In a surreal landscape of floating mountains and gigantic trees, bioluminescent animals and glowing interactive plants, visitors will be able to experience Banshee rides, and ride a boat through the dense and awe-inspiring jungle.
